The Final Four have been announced

Selection Sunday was yesterday and the teams were announced. It was relatively predictable, however, there was still much debate.  I will be talking about the selection committees method for selection at the end of the article but for now, I’m just referring to the top 4.

Number 1: Bama. Easy number one. I picked them to win the National championship with ease, and so did every other American. And since they won’t really have any competition, that’s how it’s going to be. No real discussion to be had here, they’re far and away the number 1 of the top 4.

Number 2: Clemson. Pretty easy number 2 selection. They will be playing Bama in the National Championship and they will lose, but it won’t be a blowout…I don’t think. Again, the debate for the number 2 spot is pointless. It’s always been Clemson.

Number 3: Notre Dame. Oh boy. Don’t get me started. They are not the number three team in the top 4. Are they undefeated? Yes. Have they played anyone since the first game of the season…no. They almost lost to USC last week. Are you kidding me? Clemson is going to make a mockery of them on national television and it’s going to be satisfying. They aren’t good. They’re not in a conference. I do not agree with this.

Number 4: Oklahoma. Eh. Okay, they got in. Great. Similar to Notre Dame, they’re about to get body bagged by Bama. They lost to Texas earlier this year, and barely beat them in the Big 12 conference championship. They have about as much defense as my Tennessee Vols. Bama might score 100.

Alright, so the committee was put in a weird spot. Do we put the teams who deserve it in or the teams who are the best? It has to be a little bit of both, but my goodness, when you leave a team out that clearly is heads above your number 3&4 team, it seems unjustified for the viewers. Instead of watching Ohio State play Bama and Georgia play Clemson, we have to watch Clemson and Bama get a warm-up game before they play each other. It sucks. I know that Georgia could beat Clemson and I bet Ohio State would be quite a matchup for Bama.

At the end of the day, Georgia had Bama beat and threw it away. Sound familiar? That’s why Georgia will never win and haven’t won since 1980. If I were their fans, I’d be ashamed. Way to go Georgia, you made what could’ve been a fun playoff, the most boring and predictable one of all time. Saban was probably overjoyed when he saw he was playing Oklahoma.

Another season has passed, and for me, another season has left me broken and sad. This, however, is my favorite time of year. Coaching search season!!! Let the debates rage on and let the madness ensue. My body is ready. Let’s ride.
